Peter Strelkow
Principal HS2G
Florida License LA#0000884
Peter has been practicing landscape architecture and building gardens in South Florida for over 40 years. A native Floridian, Peter was born and raised in Miami Beach and later graduated from the University of Florida. He has over 500 built projects in Florida, the Caribbean and Ecuador. Highly regarded for his exceptional knowledge of plants, his gardens are typically filled with rare species and amazing specimens. The result is a garden that is beautiful, low maintenance and enduring. His current work focuses mostly on luxury residential estates, private schools, and resorts.
Strongly influenced by his friend, legendary Brazilian landscape architect Roberto Burle Marx, Pete calls himself a ‘Tropical Modernist’. He specializes in the use of tropical plantings to create lush and bold gardens. Although abstract, his designs always create a strong visual and practical relationship between the architecture and the garden. As one moves through these spaces, views are manipulated to create interesting ‘moments in time’. Playful elements, artwork and illusions are frequent features of his designs. Sometimes delicate and graceful and at other times provocative and daring, his gardens always touch the emotions of his clients and their perception of nature.
